Learn to surf/kitesurf, book a charter to watch the whales at play or do some wine tasting at any of the local wine farms.

This little country hotel showcases and celebrates Art in a big way. Every room in the hotel is individually decorated, one of them by internationally-renowned design collective, Magpie Collective. Aside from the eye-catching interiors and artworks, much of it for sale, the art of winemaking is celebrated with a very good wine list. If Karoo cuisine is an art (and it is!) then this is the studio where it is practised best, being a winner of the Klein Karoo Gourmand Restaurant Award, and a member of the international gastronomic guild Chaîne des Rộtisseurs.

Beyond the citrus groves in the sun-drenched, evocatively named Sundays River Valley, lies Elephant House. A proudly South African, family-run lodge filled with broad smiles, home-cooked meals and good old fashioned hospitality.
This is the place to while away hot summer afternoons poolside, to fall asleep reading on a deep veranda, to celebrate with sundowner cocktails after a day exploring the magnificent Addo Elephant National Park, and to nestle up with family and friends on a winter’s night in front of a roaring fire.
Elephant House accommodation comprises the warm, welcoming Main House and the ever popular, simpler Stable Cottages.
The Main House: The eight en-suite rooms, two of which are family units, all open onto courtyards and private verandas.
The Stable Cottages: The six Cape-style Stable Cottages are set on five acres of rolling lawns dotted about with indigenous trees and aloes. Two of the cottages are family units and all of them have their own verandas and share a swimming pool.

Take a trip on the Old London Bus, let yourself be summoned to dinner by trumpet, soak up the history in the Transport or Victoriana museums, take in the uniqueness of the Little Karoo with veld walks, hikes and mountain bikes, visit the Boer War British Army remount encampment site (c.1900) nearby, play a game of tennis or Petanque, or simply relax, and read in the hotel's opulent lounges or by the residents only pool.
In the fringe of the Great Karoo, the Lord Milner Hotel appears as if out of a conjurers hat – an authentic tribute to Victoriana, and the heart of Matjiesfontein Village
Matjies Motel: A number of comfortable quality motel rooms are situated within the hotel gardens, with rooms overlooking the hotel gardens or the river, with the quaint Travellers Chapel and duck pond nearby. Ideally situated on the seafront in Mouille Point, opposite the famous Robben Island, we have been hosting local and international guests since 1998 and are consistently highly rated on several booking agencies such as TripAdvisor, and Agoda. 

Our location suits both holiday travelers and busines guests as we are a short walk from the V&A Waterfront, the Cape Town Stadium, with quick access to the City Centre, Cape Town International Convention Centre,  N1 and N2 highways. There are a host of top restaurants, coffee shops and salons on our doorstep.

Clifton and Camps Bay beaches are 10 minutes away and we are on the "MyCity" bus route between Camps Bay and the Waterfront. 

Also within walking distance - Virgin Active gym, tennis and squash courts, the Metropolitan golf course, Sea Kayak tours and the oldest working Lighthouse in the country. The outdoor Sea Point Swimming Pool is 3kms away. The Metropolitan Golf course has been completed and upgraded to a 18 hole course and is a stone's throw away.
